Harbour Clean Up Events
Blue Bay 2030 organises a monthly Harbour Clean Up Event on the second Saturday of every month, between 9am – 12 midday. Meet at Hout Bay Yacht Club.
At the September clean up we collected 170kgs of waste, of which 23% was able to be recycled. At our August clean up we collected 84kgs! This is amazing.

Beach Clean up
Sentinel Ocean Alliance co-ordinate beach clean ups on alternate months, but plenty of people just take a bag with them whenever they go for a walk on the beach. Every little bit helps ….
Restaurants Rise Above Plastics
Recycling alone is no solution to the plastics problem, as only 9% ever ends up being recycled. So what to do? The solution is simple: we need to stop the problem at its source!
The restaurant sector is very important in this battle and in encouraging the public away from single use items. Blue Bay 2030 are delighted to be partnering with Ocean Pledge to bring a Restaurant Programme to Hout Bay.
The Ocean Pledge Restaurant Programme offers a three-tier system of progress in this journey and will collect data along the way. We’re convinced that restaurants can save themselves money by making a few key changes. Do you really need to give everyone a straw in their drink?
